St. Perpetua’s High School Youth Ministry provides a place for teens to learn, share, and build a faith community. As one component of St. Perpetua’s Youth Ministry, Youth Group welcomes all teens from 9th through 12th grade. Teens come together to build new friendships and strengthen existing ones. Our year together in Youth group serves as a steppingstone to the more formal Confirmation preparation year. In Youth Group, teens experience the "Fun, Faith and Service" of our Catholic tradition. At our Youth Group gatherings, teens enjoy cool activities and discussions with the aim to move the faith of each individual teens beyond the junior high and elementary school basics to a “lived faith” experience.
As we start this year, we will use the Zoom online platform for our gatherings. An access code will be sent out in the weekly Teen at St. Perpetua email. To receive the weekly Teens at St. Perpetua email, register for HS Youth Group using the "Fall Registration" link in the links section. We will continue to use the online platform until restrictions are lifted and we can all gather together in the Grand Hall.
Calendar: Look below for the 2020 – 2021 Youth Group Calendar. The Calendar is also available by clicking on the “Youth Ministry Calendar” in the “Links Section” of the Youth Ministry web page. With varying schedule needs in our community, Youth Group gathers on different nights. Be sure to check the web page, (parish bulletin once we resume publishing) and the Teens at St. Perpetua weekly newsletter for updates and changes.
Curriculum: To foster the faith of our teens, Youth Group uses Live It! Change the World with Everyday Faith by Saint Mary’s Press. The series provides an active, hands-on program that involves helping teens to make connections between their Catholic faith and their everyday lives. Connection to everyday life is essential in fostering the faith of adolescents. Live It is a comprehensive religious education program which strengthens the Catholic identity of teens and inspires participating actively in the Church’s mission. To make sure teens understand the richness of our Catholic tradition, we include from time to time sessions on seasonal celebrations.
