Hello and welcome to St. Perpetua's High School Youth Ministry for the 2020-2021 school year. Youth Ministry provides teens in high school with opportunities to learn, share, and build a faith community.
In September we open our year for Youth Group and Confirmation preparation using an online Zoom platform and presence and hopefully move, as the year progresses, to our regular gatherings in the Grand Hall. For now, look to connect with other teens at St. Perpetua in two online gatherings: + Confirmation starts Sunday, September 20 with a parent and Candidate on line, at 4pm, or on Tuesday, September 22 at 7:30pm; and, + Youth Group starts Monday evening, online, September 21 at 7:30pm. Go to the specific page (use the links in the column to the left) for a calendar and more information.
At St. Perpetua, we partner in Youth Ministry with parents to continue to build and support their teen’s faith journey during the high school years in five ways: + By fostering their spiritual growth in the sacramental life of the Church, + By promoting teen participation in the life of our parish, + By reminding teens that they are a child of God and loved by Jesus, + By showing teens how their life has purpose as they discover and develop the gifts in each that God has graced them with, and, + By working with teens as they serve others in need.
Teens have many opportunities at St. Perpetua for learning and experiencing to see how their faith can help them navigate the challenges of being a teenager in today’s world. We meet weekly in different ways from September through mid-May to take a look at our faith at work today (sacraments, scripture, the Church, morality, community, and prayer). Restrictions placed on group gatherings necessitated by COVID-19 have impacted the way we gather, so for now, the gatherings are online.
There are four components of our parish youth ministry. Follow the link for each component of Youth Ministry using the links in the column to the left. 1. Youh Group Gatherings - Teens explore how they can incorporate our faith into everyday life. 2. Sacrament of Confirmation preparation -Year II 3. Teen / Family Youth Masses and Liturgical Celebrations [Liturgy of the Word currently]; and, 4. Service opportunities in the parish and community [Suspended until gathering restrictions lifted].
To start this year, look for "Fall Registration" in the Links section to the left and then choose either the HS Confirmation or HS Youth Group option. Complete the registration electronically, or print it and drop it by the parish office. For further information about Confirmation, Youth Group, Liturgies, and Service, go to the Links and choose. Once you are registered, look for a confirming e-mail and the weekly Teens at St. Perpetua communication.
