Thank you for your generous contribution to our St. Perpetua Capital Campaign to build a new Parish Community Center. We are now on the last lap of this three year Herculean effort and wanted to update you on the current status of the project. Construction inflation has significantly increased over the last few years due to the strong Bay Area market.
We have recently received a finalized bid from Oliver & Co. for $7.185 million (after three rounds of value engineering) to build the new 10,750 sq. ft. Community Center. The current schedule calls for ground breaking to take place on September 14th. The construction contract is ready to be signed. However, due to the increasing construction costs, we need to raise a minimum of another $500,000 in cash or pledge commitments before we receive final approval from the Diocese of Oakland to sign the contract. Below is the breakdown of the funding:
Our current funding gap is approximately $1.1 million. However, we can reluctantly value engineer (hopefully, only temporarily) another $300,000 of hard costs, bringing the contract down to $6,885,000. The school has agreed to pledge another $300,000 to help bridge this $1.1 million deficit. That leaves $500,000 of commitments from parishioners to bridge the funding gap and receive the approval from the Diocese. If we can raise this difference, we could then sign the contract and start construction as planned on September14th.
We are so close and have traveled so far to reach this point. This is a generational project and will leave a lasting legacy for St. Perpetua and the Lafayette community for decades to come. We need your help in an urgent way. You can truly make a difference with your generosity. Would you please consider extending your pledge or making another donation?
